Kind and thoughtful, St. John Henry Newman (1801-1890) was one of the towering intellects of the 19th Century. A devout man, he started off in the Anglican Church, entered the priesthood, but eventually converted when he came to the conclusion that the Catholic Faith was the one true Church. He became a Roman Catholic priest and then a cardinal.
His conversion stemmed from the idea, which he took decades to develop in books and sermons, that there was a law of historical development to Christian society, and that the Catholic Church of contemporary times was precisely the development of the early Church of the first few centuries after Christ. He argued that Protestant churches represented a break in this development, both in doctrine and in devotion. His last sermon as an Anglican was called “The Parting of Friends.” – (source: Britannica.com)
Because of his lofty, systematic thinking, he is a patron Saint of students, teachers, and professors. Newman Centers at the universities are named after him. Feast Day October 9. Walter William Ouless (1848–1933) was a British painter. He studied at the Roayl Academy in his teens, and thereafter had many paintings in their exhibitions, eventually becoming an Academician there. He painted many portraits of famous British people duriong his long casreer. ** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.
There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.
